luckily with all the student loans (i'm assuming you're getting some type of funding from the government to pursue your uni course) will only be paid back little by little when you start earning enough money to pay it back. I have the same worries as you, (obviously i don't have as much depending on moving there as you do) living in london is very very expensive but like you, i can't imagine anywhere else that i would rather study at.

I have very mixed feelings about student loans. Mine will be coming from America until I discover some better plan, which is a little irritating as the U.K. schools seem to be battling furiously with the U.S. government at the moment regarding payments…

But, yes, I just feel like it’s the right thing to do, even if it isn’t practical…

I love the sequin union jack, i've done quite a lot of hand stitching but never on such a grand scale so i do know what a massive project that is. Would you consider selling it when it's finished? I just wanted to tell that London isn't that horrible a place to live, but parts of it are. Streatham isn't great at all and because it's not on the tube it will take you a long time to get to St Martins everyday and also means long bus rides home if you are out late at night. You would be much better off in the east end (hoxton/shoreditch/dalston) which is very vibrant and artsy but also quite gentrified so it's quite expensive. South east london (new cross/deptford/greenwich) are less expensive and just a short train ride to the east end or central london. Samuel Johnson once said "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford." so don't listen to the naysayers i love it! Let me know if there's anything else you want to know before you get here. I also work for an agency that provides staff for museum's & galleries if you need to work in london too

Thank you! I’m very glad it’s already being received well. I don’t know about selling- I’d like to show it. It’ll be quite a long while before it’s finished, so I have time to think about it.

I know Streatham would be very awkward- and I can’t quite tell if the low price of rent will cancel out the amount of money and time I’d have to spend getting anywhere. But it’s a friend of a friend and they have a spare room. As for the other places, I’m at the mercy of student housing at the moment. When I’m there and can actually, you know, look at places I think it will be a very different situation. But I’m 6000 miles away and don’t know anyone, so my options are limited- but thank you very much for the advice.

And, ahh, thank you. I need a job asap when I get there, so anything would be fantastic. I’m sure I will ask you about it…

I took a look at your other websites, and I ADMIRE your moleskine on muslin work, and your horrors shirt and your highschool journal! All of your work is so wonderful!!

Thank you very much!

do you think going to london is worth all that debt? well i guess that's a stupid question because you're going but can you explain your decision on that a bit maybe? i'm trying to figure things out too and it would help me.

All students will be in debt. I’ve got three ludicrously expensive years ahead of me before I establish residency and don’t have to pay very much.

I just decided it was worth going somewhere that I really wanted to be, instead of compromising.

I really have no idea how this will all work out financially, but it was something I needed to do.
